In a bid to woo farmers ahead of the 2017 assembly elections, the state government has decided to permit a second agriculture power connection in an field which has one survey number.
The state government announced the decision on Friday. Energy and agriculture minister Chimanbhai Shapariya said that the this was the second such decision taken by the government for the benefit of farmers. Earlier the government had decided to increase power supply for agriculture from eight hours to ten hours in a day.
“The government has decided that it will approve a second agriculture power connection in the same survey number when survey number size is greater than 8 acres,“ Shapariya said.
