Gujarat high court on Wednesday issued notice to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and other authorities in response to a petition filed by farmers from Gandhinagar district against a road-widening project. Farmers from Valad village and nearby villages have filed the petition and objected to the proposal of widening the national highway connecting Ahmedabad with north Gujarat on the ground that it would result in large scale felling of trees and loss of green cover.
