Commuters on national highway (NH) 8 near Bharuch will now get some relief with the flyover at Zadeshwar crossroads becoming partially operational.

Till now those passing through Bharuch had to face huge traffic congestion due to the constriction of cable-stayed bridge on Narmada river and flyover at Zadeshwar crossroads.

According to officials of the construction company Larson & Tubro (L&T), to ease the traffic movement one lane of flyover was opened for public for trial purpose. The other side of the flyover will be opened as soon as the work gets over. The new bridge over Narmada is expected to be operational by December 2016. N K Kamaliya, police sub-inspector traffic said, “It is a big relief to travellers as major congestion has eased significantly near Bharuch. The load is reduced by nearly 40% in last four days after one side of the flyover was made operational. There is a big relief for traffic personnel too as they had worked day and night to control traffic.“

Kamlesh Udani, convener Bharuch Citizens’ Council said, “The problem of traffic congestion for the people of Bharuch in particular and the entire state has reduced. Everyone has suffered due to frequent traffic jams for past few years. Since work is going on at a brisk pace, major hurdles are expected to be over by December this year once the cablestayed bridge over Narmada becomes operational.“
